The Singapore Turf Club (STC) will soon mark its second century as a premier sporting and entertainment destination.
Established in 1842, the Singapore Sporting Club was just a pioneer racecourse that spouted up in the Farrer Park along Serangoon Road. That start-up however, would soon take shape under the mantel of the Malayan Racing Association.

What STC represents however, is much more than its location. It embraces a national pride and one that has taken over 175 years to build. Standing as the only authorised horse racing operator today, the club has witnessed many generations of citizens and visitors experience the excitement, thrill, and passion of first-class sports entertainment. Every year, STC welcomes the finest of horses from the UK, France, Australia, Macau, Hong Kong, South Korea, and South Africa to its track.
Some of the biggest events held at STC during the year include the Queen Elizabeth II Cup in June, the Singapore Derby in July each year, as well as the Singapore Gold Cup in November.
The dress code at the Singapore Turf Club is casual in the public stands, however jogging shorts and singlets are not permitted. For those entering the Gold Card Room, the dress code is smart casual Gold Card Room. For men and ladies: Shorts, tattered jeans, shorts, bermudas, t-shirts (without collars and/or sleeves), slippers and sandals are not permitted.
You can get to the Singapore Turf Club by taking the MRT and alighting at the Kranji MRT station, which is located adjacent to the MRT Plaza entrance of the racecourse.
Hi, reading your dress code for your VIP/owners lounge, it says no sandals. Does this mean ladies fashion sandals worn with a dress are not allowed?
Hi Cindy,
The dress code as published on the Singapore Turf Club’s website states the following:
The Owners’ Lounge/Derby Room/Function Rooms/Corporate Boxes
Men: Smart casual: polo shirts, tailored jeans are allowed.
Appropriate equivalent for Ladies (Tattered jeans, shorts, bermudas, skorts, t-shirts (without collars and/or sleeves) and slippers are strictly NOT allowed)
No mention of sandals, so ladies fashion sandals should be fine.
Best regards,
Jess
