The centre is home to museum facilities, five galleries, a museum shop and a number of creative spaces for different programs. The thematic galleries tell the compelling stories of the different groups among the Indian community in Singapore.
A walk through the galleries shows a chronological arrangement that spans from the 1st Century to the 21st century. These galleries offer an excellent opportunity for visitors to learn about the experiences of the pioneers in the Singaporean Indian community and the significant strides they made to present-day Singapore.
Look out for the numerous programmes held at Indian Heritage Centre that range from film screening to art and cultural performances, neighbourhood sketches as well as community expressions. The popular ‘Artist in the House’ is also worth checking out if you would like to learn about the artists featured in ‘Once Upon a Time in Little India‘.
On arrival at the centre, visitors can choose between a guided tour or a self-guided tour. The latter allows the complimentary use of hand-held devices, although this is subject to availability when requested. Guided tours, on the other hand, are only available for group visits of more than 15 people. Advance bookings for group visits must be done four weeks in advance, and each tour lasts about an hour.
