They are considered the early pioneers of Singapore and have contributed a great deal into shaping one of the city-state’s most famous areas.

It gives you a look into how hard the Chinese immigrants worked back then to make ends meet after leaving China and making their way to Singapore with dreams of a better life. The area they settled in is now known as Singapore’s Chinatown.
Both educational and informative, the shophouses are fully equipped with bedrooms and kitchens as well as street images dating back to the late 19th to the early 20th century. The recreations are nothing short of impressive, especially when you consider how the city’s magnificent skyscrapers aren’t too far from this historical area. A souvenir shop at the centre sells quirky and kitschy items.
The Chinatown Heritage Centre is located at 48 Pagoda Street and is open daily from 9:30am to 6:30pm. The admission with a multimedia guide for adults is $18 and $14 for kids (aged 7-12); admission with a guided tour is also $18 for adults and $14 for kids. Seniors are eligible for discounts, or free entry if accompanied by a paying visitor.
