The Chinese Garden is a 13.5 hectare garden that was built in 1975 by the renowned Taiwanese architect Professor Yuen-Chen Yu.
The Chinese Garden was modelled after the landscaping of the Sung dynasty of Northern China and, typical of this style, you will see a pair of majestic stone lions guarding its gates.
Chinese Garden Singapore, Entrance Fee, Opening Hours & MRT
Enjoy the unique architectural features which make the Chinese Garden so unique. The Stone Boat, Pagodas, Pavilions, Bonsai Garden, the Live Turtle, bridges, Tea House and Stone Lions are some of the artistic masterpieces that stand out in the garden.
Climb the stairs of the Pagoda to catch a great view of the garden and the nearby Jurong Lake and golf course. The garden is not only spacious with almost 6000 sq. meters of beautiful space, but it is also accessible through bridges which symbolise good luck.
The Chinese Garden is also the perfect place to visit during the Chinese New Year (Jan/Feb) and the Mid-Autumn Festival (September). Come and enjoy art and culture entertainment from live Kungfu and acrobatic shows. It is also common to find couples shooting wedding photos within the gardens as they capture their special day in this beautiful location.
The gardens are a smoke-free environment. Cycling is permitted inside the gardens, but please be considerate of those walking (electronic bicycles are not permitted). The gardens are wheelchair and pram accessible, with most pathways wide with only a gentle slope. There are only a couple of pagodas that cannot be accessed as there are stairs, however, they can be viewed easily from the main path. Pets are welcome in the garden, however, they should remain on a leash at all times.
To get to the gardens, catch the MRT and get off at Chinese Garden Station. Then take a short 5-minute walk to the gardens.
What is the nearest carpark for Chinese garden
Hi,
There is normally a car park for the gardens on Chinese Garden Road, but it appears that due to the construction, it has been moved to Yuan Ching Road.
Please see the notice at https://www.nparks.gov.sg/ for details and a map of the new location.
Thanks
Michael
Are the lanterns still available for viewing, up to which day?
Hi Yvonne,
Be that the Singapore Mid Autumn Festival (which the lanterns would have been up for) only ran from 6-24th September 2018, there is a good chance that they would have been taken down by now.
Thanks
Michael
When is the lantern festival decoration out?And do we need to pay for it?
Hi Dejin,
The event you are referring to is the Singapore Mid Autumn Festival, and is held on 24th September 2018. You can view more information on the event at https://www.singaporetravelhub.com/events/mid-autumn-festival/.
As for prices, i can’t find any information regarding any kind of entry fee, so i would assume that it is free. It would be worth checking back closer to the event once more information becomes available.
Thanks
Michael
Hi – are there wheelchairs available for rent? I have a elderly person who needs wheelchair before entering the garden. Please advise
Hi,
I have looked at the National Parks website and i can’t see any mentions of wheelchairs being available for hire – more just the fact that the majority of locations are wheelchair accessible. Also having visited there before, there really wasn’t many locations where i think they’d be able to provide the service.
So in saying that, i have looked online and there does appear to be a number of companies that provide wheelchair hire – ranging from $10 a day, up to $40+ for the week. Some also offer delivery if you can’t make it to their stores.
Sorry, i am not that clued into types of wheelchairs or know where you are located so it would be worth just searching for “wheelchair hire singapore” and compare the results.
Thanks,
Michael
Hi can I know where is the nearest car park.

Hello, the car park has been closed and the roads leading to the gardens is also closed – how do we enter and park?
Hi Fiona,
Looking at the latest developments around the garden area, it’s noted that there are road closures and changes to parking; with the National Parks Board stating:
1 .Jurong Lake Gardens West is closed for re-development till end 2018. Jurong Lake Garden Central (Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden) remains open.
2. Chinese Garden Road is permanently closed for redevelopment from 19 March 2018. Pedestrians can continue to access Jurong Lake Gardens Central (Chinese Garden) and Jurong Lake Gardens Central (Japanese Garden) via the walkways alongside the road.
You can view the supporting files below, which shows the temporary parking location and also the access roads.

Hi for mid autumn festival, do we have to purchase tickets? Can we just enter? When can we enter?
Hi Wen,
Some people prefer stay at home to celebrate the festival, while others would like to go outside to have a closer contact with the moon. Over time, some outdoor places become more popular, including ancient man-made sites, natural scenic areas, countryside and skyscrapers, etc. You don’t need to purchase tickets to enjoy the festival, however some venues may hold special events which you will need to pay for. It all depends on how you wish to celebrate.
Regards,
Jess

During Mid-autumn Festival is it crowded? Is there any entrance fees on 30/9/2017? We are planning to bring some old folks with wheelchairs, is it advisable to go during this festive period?
Hi Connie,
I cant speak to the crowd sizes on any given day, but it is a very popular event and therefore large crowds are expected. This event is celebrated all around Singapore, entry tickets have already sold out.
Kind regards,
Jess

Is bicycle rental available at the Garden area or anywhere around the location?
If yes, kindly share the rental cost, thank you.
Hi Ray,
Unfortunately it is a BYOB (bring your own bike) situation. You will need to rent a bike from one of the local businesses. A quick Google search should put you in touch with a bike rental place near your accommodation location.
There is also a bike share program running in Singapore with three different companies running their own version: Mobike, oBike and ofo. You will need to do some research to see if they have bikes in the areas that you would like to visit, I believe there is one located at the Chinese Garden MRT Station (not sure which company though). In combination with the MRT, a bike share program might be a good option to get you around Singapore.
Kind regards,
Jess

Hi, is the garden wheel-chair friendly?
Hi Kit,
Most of the Chinese Garden has well maintained pathways that is suitable for wheelchairs. There are however some arched bridges which are steep as well as a number of the attractions within the garden having steps.
That said, it is a beautiful place to take a stroll and you will be able to see most of the attractions on the main pathways which are wheelchair friendly.
Enjoy your time at the Chinese Garden!
Kind regards,
Jess
